2023 ‘LOLA’ PINOT NOIR
2023 ‘LOLA’ PINOT NOIR
A long, hot ripening season gave way to optimum fruit maturity with balanced, fresher acidity. Hand-harvested from Nelson‘s highest vineyard in the picturesque Orinoco Valley; the vines are in-excess of 20 years in age and dry farmed. Crafted with a gentle de-stem and no crushing, combined with a long cold soak, and the use of wild yeast resulted in bright, fresh strawberry flavours, concentrated Black Doris Plum, and wild raspberry notes. The use of selected seasoned French oak barriques impart elegance and a subtle savory character. Eastate grown, crafted and bottled for maximum authenticity.
Scutt Wines Lola Pinot Noir 2023, Nelson
Deep ruby-red with a slight purple hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, dark plum, earthy minerals, herb and delicate spice. Medium-bodied, aromas of dark plum, cherry and raspberry entwined with black pepper, nutmeg and oregano. The wine is mouth-filling with finely woven tannins, unfolding a black tea nuance. The spices flow along with balanced acidity and elevate a savoury closing. This Pinot Noir shows an earthy and savoury palate with smooth tannins. Match with lamb cutlets and duck over the next 5 years. Handpicked fruit from Nelson's highest vineyard in the Orinoco Valley, a 20+y.o. dry-farmed block, destemmed, a partial 40% crushed with whole berry for cold soak over 10 days, wild yeast fermented. Aged in seasoned French barriques for 15 months. 14% alc. Vegan friendly.
